INKSTUFF

The Cycladic Gaze

INKSTUFF: The Cycladic Gaze is an authentically curated map whose destinations are creative writing, art, and the unique atmosphere of Andros.

Taking as its point of departure this year’s theme, “Locate the Unlocatable”, and with sculptor Germaine Richier in “dialogue”, the workshop unfolds through unexpected writing sessions, unspeakable exercises, personal time for reflection, and cultivation with the natural world.

Within an environment of hospitality, tranquility, and inspiration, all members of the group are given the opportunity to explore their own creative voice and develop an artistic work of their own.

Testimonial

I’m setting off on a journey.

I’ve been preparing for days. I’ve made different lists: what I’m going to take with me, who I’ll see before I leave and who I’ll see when I return, what I need to buy.

I’m leaving certain thoughts behind. I decided that this will be my journey. I won’t be sad about who has been left behind or why they aren’t coming with me. This is for me.

This journey came at exactly the right time, when I wanted to walk away from everything. I wanted to be alone, somewhere no one could find me. Somewhere no one could ask me for things I didn’t want to do but felt unable to refuse.

So, I left. I closed my suitcase and I left.

The moment I arrived in Sicily, I forgot about work, friends, and family.

I let myself be free.

Everything resurfaced in Sicily: family, friends, work. But it all emerged beautifully and effortlessly. None of it felt threatening. I was in control of it all.

I hold on to this journey for what it truly was, for everything it gave me.

I came back.

I’m trying to readjust, though it didn’t take long. I quickly slipped back into my old rhythms, but with a different mindset, thankfully, one that no longer lets everything affect me.

I have finally drawn my boundaries.
